Currently trending in my house: eating oatmeal with oat milk.
Since I made almond milk, I’ve tried making other plant-based milks and found out that oat milk goes so well with oatmeal. I have a feeling maybe I’m the last one to realize this. It doesn’t produce as much as the other types so I’m careful to pour just the amount that I need.
Homemade Oat Milk
(Yields about 1 liter of milk)
Ingredients:
1 cup organic gluten free oats
4.5 cups filtered water
1/8 tsp pink salt
4 pitted dates
1/2 Tbsp maple syrup
Direction:
If you have a high speed blender, make sure not to over blend because blending longer makes it very thick. I blend mine for 30 seconds. Put the milk through the nut milk bag, and slowly squeeze, squeeze squeeze.
Although it’s great that you don’t need to soak the oats, this one takes the longest out of all the plant-based milks I’ve tried (cashew, almonds, hemp) to put through the nut milk bag so make it when you have 20-30 minutes.
